What is mental Health? – The dictionary definition for
mental health is “a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and
emotional well being”
Many factors contribute to your mental health well being, this includes:
· Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry
· Life experiences, trauma or abuse
· Family History of mental problems
Mental illness can develop because from:
· Being misunderstood
· Through anxiety
· Grief
Sings of mental illness include: don’t sleep or eat enough, they pull away from people, feel like nothing matters, smoke, drink or use drugs more than usual.
What you can do to help maintain your mental health and wellness is:
· Staying positive
· Connecting with others
· Getting enough sleep
· Helping others
We can see that Mental health and social health are linked strongly; if you do not feel at ease around other people; if you do not trust anybody; or feel like everybody hates you, it will weigh very heavily on your mental health cause anxiety and stress.
Mental Health and Wellness is very important because it is needed for people:
· To realize their full potential
· Cope with stress
· Feel like their life has meaning
If you do not keep up your mental health you may begin to lose meaning in life, can be stuck in depression, stress will occur more often, you may find it harder and harder to work each day, and may begin to get suicidal thoughts.
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
This passage shows that as Christian we should not be anxious or worry because we know that everything is in God’s hands.
1 Peter 5:7 ESV
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Again we know that all this are in God’s hand. We can also see that we never have to feel lonely because God cares for us and he is our friend.
